“We invited Brian to kick-off Winston & Strawn’s 2019 commitment to opening up the dialogue around mental health. Brian pointed out in his presentation on how many in the legal field are two times as likely to suffer from anxiety, depression, addiction, and suicidal ideations. He highlighted the need to build places of belonging where we can best serve each other and our clients, and find ways to reduce the shame and stigma around these natural human releases to the stresses of our profession. Brian pointed out that even the most successful among us are just as vulnerable and real as everyone else. Brian’s ability to facilitate this dialogue in a very approachable, vulnerable and heartfelt way is a great step in helping reduce our mind chatter and form real bonding and connections that can help inoculate us from mental health struggles. We at Winston will continue to collaborate with him and hope he helps you and your organizations find the path to well-being. Let’s take care of each other. Live well!
The event featuring Brian Cuban was a huge success for the firm. The attendance at the event exceeded our expectations and we have received many positive reviews. Brian is an engaging speaker and he does an excellent job of sharing the personal details of his own struggle and steps to recovery. We are grateful that he could help us kick off our “Year of Mental Health” wellness initiative. Brian’s message of helping others and recovery were a positive way to start off the year.
“Thank you again for agreeing to speak to our group. It was a wonderful program and enjoyed by all!”
“I had the privilege of meeting Brian Cuban and attending his presentation at our annual South Carolina Bar Convention. I found his presentation to be engaging and enlightening to the struggles of those with addictions, eating disorders and other mental illnesses. I was especially impressed with his humility and willingness to share the intimate details of his struggle with us. He exuded a genuine concern and desire to help those with similar struggles. His inspirational story left the audience with a sense of hope and proof that recovery is possible for those battling addiction. I encourage anyone who has the opportunity to hear Mr. Cuban’s story to definitely do so.”
Brian Cuban tells a powerful and compelling story that can change lives. He inspires with his honesty and his deep desire to help those around him learn from his experiences, to seek help when they need it, and, as a result, to see their way to a better future. Law student and lawyer wellness is a critical issue that we must constantly attend to; Brian brings that message home clearly and with passion. We are so proud to call him our alum and our friend.
“We were so grateful to have the opportunity to have Brian speak at our annual conference. As having previously attended a seminar at which Brian told his story, I knew our attendees would be captivated by him, and they were. You could have heard a pin drop at times. Brian brought a very personal and human perspective for our investigators to consider when dealing with those who suffer from addictions. He enlightened and helped make our conference a success!”
I enjoyed his session very much. I felt that the 2 hours went very fast and he kept my attention the entire time. It was serious, sad and funny. He has a lot of energy and is obviously passionate about helping others who are in a similar situation. What I found to be most interesting was that his story was so different from the typical addiction story of a lawyer: the stress of practicing and lifestyle of a lawyer leading to the addiction followed by their life and practice spiraling out of control. Brian was suffering from an addiction from a much younger age and never did lose his license or even face discipline.”
Brian answered all of our questions, whether technical or personal. I was moved by his honesty regarding the addictions that almost destroyed his life and his struggles to overcome it, even after he had been sober for a number of years.”
“I really appreciated the in-depth and frank discussion, beginning with his childhood, to explain how Brian developed his illnesses. Brian was a very dynamic speaker who quickly captured his audience’s interest and attention. I enjoyed his presentation and got a lot out of it.”
“Dear Brian, Thank you for sharing your powerful story with us at the Advanced Family Law Seminar in San Antonio. I heard so many great comments from our lawyers. Keep up the good work!”-Rick Robertson
